Job Opening: Communications and Development Professional

JLens is seeking a new team member to lead communications and development initiatives to support JLens’ growth. 


Location: Remote. Preference for close proximity to the New York City area, Northeast corridor, or San Francisco Bay Area, but other US-based locations considered. Periodic travel required. 


Hours: Full-time 


Compensation: Commensurate with experience, skill set, and professional qualifications 


About JLens: JLens ( is a nonprofit established in 2012 to explore a Jewish lens on investing and serve as a bridge between the Jewish community and the global responsible investing arena. Responsible investing (or impact investing) describes the practice of aligning investment capital with values to achieve positive impact alongside financial return. Responsible investing is immensely popular and growing, and faith groups have a leadership role in the field. 


JLens represents the Jewish community in this arena: we build long-term advocacy relationships with major corporations to move the needle on corporate behavior, and we are an active participant in the field at dozens of investor coalitions and convenings annually. JLens offers education to Jewish institutions and individuals on Jewish values and impact investing (for example, the Jewish Impact Investing Summit) and guidance for Jewish institutions who seek to align their investments with Jewish values. JLens oversees the Jewish Advocacy Strategy, a large-cap US public equity investment offering seeded by Jewish organizations. 


Your experience and passion: You have communications and development experience and are skilled at relationship building. You are interested and excited about JLens’ mission, about joining a growing organization making social change within the Jewish community, and about the potential for business and investment to serve as a source of positive impact and to further Jewish communal values.




  • Manage existing donor and investor network relationships in collaboration with CEO

  • Oversee cultivation of new donors and supporters, and the growth of JLens’ investor network, through research, outreach, and relationship building

  • Maintain contact management database and create/manage systems for relationship tracking

  • Draft grant applications and renewals and funder reporting



  • Prepare organizational communications including impact reports, newsletters, presentations, marketing materials, and webinars

  • Maintain organization’s website and social media presence

  • Build and manage relationships with press, and similar public relations responsibilities

  • In collaboration with advocacy/program staff, support the organization to communicate its successes to stakeholders

  • Build and maintain pipeline of communications material

  • Coordinate events and speaking engagements


Strategic Plan and Board Organization

  • Assist CEO with developing and implementing JLens’ strategic growth plan, including earned-revenue services, as well as funding expansion plans

  • Serve as the liaison and coordinator between the board and staff and organize preparations for board meetings and board communications


Preferred Qualities:

  • Experience with fundraising, development campaigns, relationship building, and communications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills

  • Familiarity with Jewish values, culture, and organizational landscape. 

  • Experience as a professional or lay leader with a Jewish organization. 

  • CRM experience (Salesforce or comparable system) and familiarity with Zoom and the Google Suite of products. 

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and strategize effectively, and collaborate remotely with colleagues. 

  • Familiarity with investing and business concepts.
