JLens, a division of ADL, explores a Jewish lens on investing, and serves as the bridge between the Jewish community and the values-based impact investing movement. JLens was launched in 2012, and launched its Jewish Advocacy Strategy in 2015. The Jewish Advocacy Strategy US aligns with Jewish values and advocates for communal concerns in the Socially Responsible Investing and Corporate Social Responsibility movements – two influential arenas previously void of Jewish leadership. Investor advocacy is the best method for generating positive impact from public equity investing. The strategy is designed to be a first step for Jewish values-based investors including Jewish Community Foundations, Federations, nonprofits, synagogues, foundations, and donor-advised funds. Recently, JLens also launched its Jewish Values Global Index, allowing JLens to expand its advocacy on behalf of the Jewish community globally. 



The ESG Research Manager is an integral member of the JLens team, supporting the Head of Advocacy with all research concerning companies in the Jewish Advocacy Strategy and Jewish Values Global Index, in addition to issue area and coalition research. The ESG Research Manager will develop and oversee research management processes and systems. 



  • Support research on all companies in the Jewish Advocacy Strategy and Jewish Values Global Index as relevant for scoring and corporate engagement

  • Update scoring processes and update company scoring on a regular basis based on JLens advocacy, company reports and data, and reports and data by third party organization

  • Update research on individual companies prior to engagement, support the Head of Advocacy in research preparation prior to company engagement

  • Monitor company behavior as communicated in company reporting and external stakeholder reporting, including monitoring news about companies held in JLens’ portfolio as it arises

  • Oversee and develop processes and systems for research management

  • Support ESG issue area research, participate in webinars, coalition calls etc. to develop JLens’ understanding of various social and environmental issues

  • Support the Head of Advocacy on an as needed basis on other research projects

  • Possible support to direct advocacy engagement on an as needed basis 



  • Strong research (both quantitative and qualitative) and analytical skills, attention to detail

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrated ability to balance and prioritize projects to meet deadlines

  • Ability to work on projects independently

  • Ability to analyze data from multiple sources, identify key information, and communicate key points in writing

  • Flexibility in a fast paced environment

  • Exceptional organizational skills 

  • Ability to be a self starter in a remote work environment 

  • Commitment to ADL and JLens’ mission and values, and interest in the corporate responsibility/socially responsible investing field 

  • Demonstrated interest in ESG is a plus


Education/Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preference to relevant coursework including business, ESG, environmental science, social impact, Jewish studies, etc

  • Experience in ESG and corporate responsibility/socially responsible investing is a plus, but if you are interested in this field and willing to learn this should not deter you from applying

  • The ideal candidate has multiple types of research experience, including work with quantitative and qualitative data and analysis


Work Environment:

  • This is a remote position, and can be based in any US time zone
